006 (ScratchSam)
Born in Hammersmith, London 006 has music in the blood.
Being exposed to music at an early age through his fathers influence, who
has worked with Pete Townshend and Noel Gallagher, 006 was catching the rhythms
as a youngster.
The music bug really hit home after listening to a Hip Hop mix tape from family
friend Herbalizers 'Ollie Teeba'. From here the musical passion grew from
early Hip Hop into the old hardcore era through to drum n bass and modern
time breaks.
Working at Phuture Trax music promotions in 1997 / 98 alongside DJ Flight, Nicky Trax and Luke Coke, 006 promoted REACT's 'Artcore' d'n'bass series, Marshall Jeffersons 'House Classics' and Grooveriders remix of the 007 theme.
006's diverse mixing style includes slick scratching skills picked up from mix sessions with scratch maestro DJ Cosic and going to DMC events seeing turntablists such as DJ Cash Money and Scratch Perverts.
ScratchSam has played in and around London including club nights at The Liquid Bar in Old Street, Salmon & Compass in Angel, Rebel Intelligence (New Years Eve 1999 & 2001), Full Motion and Faces.
He's also played abroad in several bars including Funky
Monkey & Apocalypse Now
in Hanoi, Vietnam. 006 plays a mixture of hip hop & breaks, tech/funky house though to Drum N Bass.
